Most riders asking about this bike should buy the cheaper one. We mean that. The Streetfighter V2 is $15,400 less, makes 120 hp, and covers everything you can legally do on an Alberta road. That's our honest recommendation, and we'll make it to your face. But some of you already know that and don't care. The V4 S is 205 horsepower with no fairing between you and it. The crankshaft spins backward, a MotoGP trick, so 189 kg drops into a corner like a much lighter bike. And the electronics simulate over 70 sensors to catch the rear tire before it ever slips, which is the only reason a motorcycle like this is rideable by humans. It has zero interest in your commute. The wind at highway speed is a workout. None of that is a flaw. That's what this is. Streetfighter V4 S. 205 hp. 189 kg. From $33,995 CAD. Alberta: no PST. We'll keep recommending the sensible one. We also know exactly which bike you're going to walk toward when you come in. #StreetfighterV4 #Streetfighter #DucatiNaked #DesmosediciStradale #MotoGP #BlackfootMotosports #DucatiCalgary #YYC #AlbertaMoto #DucatiLife

The new DesertX makes 70% of its torque by 3,000 rpm. New engine for gen 2: an 890cc V2 with Intake Variable Timing. Most adventure engines pick a lane, tractor down low or highway up top. IVT moves the intake schedule as revs climb, so this one doesn't pick. Second gear on gravel past Waiparous, the pull's already there. Trans-Canada into a headwind, it doesn't strain. And because the valves run coil springs now, checks come every 45,000 km. Oil every 15,000. That's an engine built for distance, not the service counter. New DesertX. 890cc V2. 110 hp. 92 Nm. 209 kg wet, no fuel. New DesertX series, Part 1 of 4. Part 2 next week: Ducati replaced its own signature frame, and did it on purpose. #DesertX #NewDesertX #DucatiV2 #AdventureBike #ADVLife #BlackfootMotosports #DucatiCalgary #YYC #AlbertaMoto #DucatiLife

Saturday, 7:40 AM. Westbound on the 1A. The city gives up at Cochrane. That's the whole plan. The 1A follows the Bow out of town: open, easy, a warm-up. Coffee in Cochrane with every other rider in the city who had the same idea. Then south on 22, the Cowboy Trail, with the foothills on your right and the Rockies stacked behind them, and the road swinging in long, easy arcs until you decide you're hungry. Home by noon. Better than you left. The Scrambler is built for exactly this ride. 73 hp you actually use, all of it. 176 kg you never fight in a parking lot or a U-turn. An air-cooled L-twin that makes 90 km/h feel like an event. It doesn't need a destination to justify itself. And now that Highwood Pass is open for the season, the 40 belongs on your list too. Scrambler Icon. From $13,595 CAD. Alberta: no PST. Comment ROADS and we'll send you the 12 rides every Calgary Ducatista should do: distances, seasons, fuel stops. #ScramblerDucati #ScramblerIcon #CowboyTrail #Highway22 #Cochrane #BlackfootMotosports #DucatiCalgary #YYC #AlbertaMoto #DucatiLife

Ducati replaced its own signature frame on the new DesertX. On purpose. Gen 1 ran a steel trellis, the most Ducati thing on the bike. Gen 2 moves to an aluminium monocoque, and it's why the new bike feels lighter than the number says. Easier at walking pace in the rough. Steadier at speed on the road. The rear end is new too: a full-floater progressive link with 11% more progression than last year. Soft over Ghost River washboard, firm when a rut hits hard. Fully adjustable KYB at both ends, 230 mm front and 220 mm rear, steering damper standard. New DesertX. Aluminium monocoque. 209 kg wet, no fuel. Part 2 of 4 on the new DesertX. Part 3 next week: this bike is designed to be dropped. Really. #DesertX #NewDesertX #AdventureBike #ADVRiding #GhostRiver #BlackfootMotosports #DucatiCalgary #YYC #AlbertaMoto #DucatiLife

Five Multistradas. Most people only need one slide of this. Good pavement, want the engine: V4. Real touring: the S. The road ends and you keep going: Rally. Corners and nothing else: Pikes Peak. Superbike engine sitting upright: RS. Highwood Pass doesn't care which badge you picked. Your passenger, your fuel stops, and your seat height do. Every one runs the counter-rotating crank, so the bike turns in lighter than the number on the scale. Valve checks every 60,000 km on the Granturismo engine. From $22,995 to $43,995 CAD. Alberta: no PST. Comment TWOUP and we'll send the honest two-up guide: which Ducatis your passenger will actually love. No pitch, just the answer. Ducati designed the new DesertX assuming it will get dropped. Adventure bikes fall over. Pretending otherwise is how you end up scared of your own motorcycle. So gen 2 plans for it: an 18-litre plastic tank that shrugs off a tip-over where metal dents. Crash pads on the sides. An air filter you can pull and wash at camp after a dusty day. And a hexagonal rear axle nut, because any wrench in any small-town shop fits it. You ride differently on a bike you're not afraid to scratch. Looser. Further from the truck. New DesertX. Built for the Ghost, not the showroom floor. Part 3 of 4 on the new DesertX. Part 4 next week: six riding modes, four power levels, one bike that fits almost anyone. #DesertX #NewDesertX #ADVLife #OffRoad #McLeanCreek #BlackfootMotosports #DucatiCalgary #YYC #AlbertaMoto #DucatiLife

The frame on this Streetfighter weighs about four kilograms. It's one aluminium casting, the monocoque. Instead of wrapping a heavy frame around the engine, Ducati bolts the frame to the engine and lets the engine carry the structural load. Same architecture as the Panigale V2 superbike. That's how you get 120 hp in 178 kg, with the mass sitting low and central where it helps you instead of fighting you. Where you feel it: Highway 40 through Kananaskis, corner after corner, and the bike just goes where you look. Streetfighter V2. 120 hp. 178 kg. From $18,595 CAD. Alberta: no PST. The new DesertX has six riding modes. The most on any Ducati. Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro, Rally and Wet, with four power levels underneath, from the full 110 hp down to a calmer 75 for loose ground. Enduro and Rally will even let you switch ABS fully off. Cruise on Highway 40, Enduro on the forestry trunk road. Two buttons apart. And it fits. Seat options plus a low suspension kit span 840 to 900 mm. Your inseam isn't a problem, it's a setting. That's the whole point of gen 2: one bike that meets you where you are today, and still has somewhere for you to go. New DesertX. 6 riding modes. 110 hp. 209 kg wet, no fuel. From $19,995 CAD. Hypermotard V2

A dirt bike's stance. A road bike's engine. That combination has a name. Supermotard: born on race circuits that ran tarmac and dirt in the same lap. Tall suspension for the rough stuff, wide bars for leverage, road wheels and tires for grip. Riders discovered the format was the fun part, so it moved to the street. The new Hypermotard V2 is Ducati's take on making that format livable. The 890 cc twin puts over 70% of its torque down by 3,000 rpm, so city speeds don't feel like a compromise, and valve checks come every 45,000 km. The tall seat means you see over traffic. The wide bars mean everything is a small correction. And it's honest about what it isn't: no windscreen, 12.5-litre tank. This is a city-and-canyon machine, on purpose. Hypermotard V2. 120.4 hp. 180 kg. From $18,895 CAD. Alberta: no PST. Comment MODES and we'll send you Ducati Electronics Decoded: riding modes, traction control and settings in plain language. #HypermotardV2 #Hypermotard #Supermoto #DucatiV2 #BlackfootMotosports #DucatiCalgary #YYC #AlbertaMoto #DucatiLife
